Add administrative users to the component 2 Years, 2 Months ago
In addition to the above suggestion, I would also like an easy way to use the component's user manager to add users who don't have client profiles in CE - for instance, my fellow employees.

At the moment, the only way to do that is to add them as Joomla users, then manually add them to the bridge's user table via phpMyAdmin.

I am working on this right now. This is the idea that I have for access rights using Joomla usertypes

  • SuperAdmins
    • Back End and Front End
      • obviously everything
  • Administrators
    • BackEnd
      • NOT configuration
      • NOT Server Manager
      • access to everything else in the backend.
    • Front End
      • WHM Links
      • CPanel Admin Link
      • ClientExec Login Link
  • Manager
    • BackEnd
      • Nothing
    • Front End
      • CPanel Admin Link
      • ClientExec Login Link
  • Publisher
    • Back End
      • Nothing
    • Front End
      • ClientExec Login Link

Let me know what you think. Anybody can answer, I'm not just asking Paul.

Thanks,
Shannon

I think that would be an excellent approach - seems like it gives exactly the right privileges to each user.

The cool thing I hadn't even thought about is, I could manually add an additional user for a client as a Publisher but could access CE - for instance, to handle billing or such - but he wouldn't have cPanel access, which would be reserved for the main account owner.

I wouldn't do that for a customer right now. That would give them Publisher access to YOUR Joomla site, editing articles and such. Bad Idea.

I will work on something for what you are talking about doing, which is give them a username to log in to their clientexec account but hides the cpanel stuff.
